THIS IS NOT OFFICIAL OCEAN FOREST HOMEOWNERS ASSOCIATION WEBSITE

We are group of Ocean Forest unit owners who served the OF HOA in the past in various capacities.

Can you answer (to yourself) the following questions:

-          When was the last time you received the Ocean Forest newsletter?

-          Do you know how to reach the OF Office, the manager, or maintenance in case of emergency?

-          When was the last time you were informed about the results of last elections?

-          When was the last time you were informed who is the President, Treasurer, Secretary, and other officers of the Board of Directors?

-          Can you think of a reason why our Association refuses to communicate with Members via email, while our government, including the Monterey City government, does?

-          Do you know how much money our Association has in the Reserve fund?

-          Do you know why was over $170,000 recently pulled from our Reserve fund and how was the money spent?

If you don’t know the answer to any these questions, you might become as concerned as we are.

We were repeatedly trying to obtain clear answers to clear questions concerning the Association’s vital records from the current Board. According to our Bylaws, every Member is entitled to such information. What we received were evasive responses, often written or advised by an attorney.

Based on this experience, we have many reasons to believe there is something disturbing about this Association.

We believe that our Ocean Forest Association needs change.

1.      The current Board needs to be recalled and re-elected from scratch in legitimate election.

2.      New Board should restore the ethics, responsibility, transparency, and responsiveness to the Membership needs.

3.      New Board should order an in-depth audit of HOA dealings from the past 5 years, and report the findings to the Members. Corrective action must follow.

4.      New Board should learn lessons from the recent COVID shutdown, and find means for enabling greater Membership engagement in HOA affairs, including remote telework-like participation in Board and other meetings.

Ocean Forest is our home! We want and deserve Association and management that is led by capable people willing to serve and adhere to our Bylaws and CC&Rs, not hiding behind expensive attorneys. We need leadership that will responsibly manage our resources for the benefit of us all, not just selected few.

If you want to help the change happen, please come to the upcoming Annual Membership on Saturday May 14, 2022 at 2 PM or Special Meeting and make your voice and will be heard!
